The incident happened on the 300 block of N. Glebe Road around 1:05 a.m., Wednesday, Aug. 2, Arlington County police said.
The victim kicked the suspect who fled the scene, only to return a short time later. That time, he tried to convince the woman to leave with him, police said. He left again.
The suspect is described as a White and/or Hispanic male, 25 to 45 years old, with dark hair and wearing a white shirt and light-colored shorts.
